Oklahoma Medicaid Long-Term Care
How SoonerCare covers nursing facilities, ADvantage home care, ICF/IID care, and State Plan Personal Care under Oklahoma policy.
SoonerCare is Oklahoma’s Medicaid program
Oklahoma uses the name SoonerCare for its Medicaid program, and the Oklahoma Health Care Authority publishes the program’s long-term-care eligibility rules. The current long-term medical-care rule lists nursing-facility care, public and private ICF/IID care, care for people age 65 or older in mental-health hospitals, intellectual-disability HCBS, ADvantage HCBS, and State Plan Personal Care as the long-term-care services for the categorically needy (OHCA long-term medical-care rule).
The program names matter because the financial rules, care setting, and access route are not identical. A nursing-facility applicant is reviewed under the nursing-facility rules, while a person seeking services at home may be applying for ADvantage or, where appropriate, State Plan Personal Care. The current OHCA overview confirms that a person certified as eligible for long-term-care SoonerCare is also eligible for other SoonerCare services, and it says no separate application or additional spenddown computation is required for that result (OHCA long-term medical-care rule).
