West Virginia Medicaid Asset Limits
West Virginia’s published long-term-care rules combine modest countable-resource limits, a spend-down route, federal spousal protections, and a home-equity threshold.
Use the most recent state figure carefully
The most recently located official West Virginia long-term-care eligibility flyer is dated April 2025. It lists a $2,000 asset limit for an individual and $3,000 for a couple for SSI-Related Medicaid nursing-home care and the Home and Community Based Care for Aged, Blind and Disabled Individuals waiver. It also says some couple assets are protected for a spouse who does not need nursing-home or home- and community-based care (West Virginia long-term-care eligibility flyer, April 2025).
A 2026 state-specific eligibility overview reports the same $2,000 individual figure for a nursing-home applicant, a $32,532 minimum and $162,660 maximum Community Spouse Resource Allowance, and a $752,000 home-equity-interest limit. These are useful current planning figures, but the official state flyer located for this work still displays 2025 dollars, so a family should ask the county office to confirm the operative 2026 resource assessment before moving assets (2026 West Virginia eligibility overview; West Virginia long-term-care eligibility flyer).
