Kansas has other population-specific waiver paths

CMS's factsheet also identifies Kansas waivers for physical disability, brain injury, I/DD, autism, serious emotional disturbance, technology assistance, and Community Support. Their target ages and required levels of care differ. For example, the Physical Disability waiver is listed for people age 16 to 64 who meet nursing-facility level of care, while the I/DD waiver has an ICF/IID level-of-care standard. Financial rules still matter. Current Kansas long-term-care guidance lists a $2,000 resource figure for one HCBS-waiver applicant, a $3,000 combined resource figure when both spouses apply, and the community-spouse protections for a married applicant. It also identifies $2,982 per month as the 2026 HCBS-waiver income figure in its table, so families should ask the Kansas worker which exact waiver budget applies rather than assuming nursing-facility income treatment is identical (Kansas Medicaid Long Term Care Programs).

Waiting-list information needs direct confirmation

That absence should not be read as a guarantee of immediate enrollment. Home care requires a viable plan

Waiver services generally supplement, rather than replace, informal supports, housing, food, and supervision. A family should test the service plan against the real schedule of caregivers, providers, transportation, and safety needs before deciding that home care is financially or practically sustainable.
